My Concert List
May 19, 2009 in Concerts
I have always been asked by friends, “What new music have you found?”. It’s a constant from a few friends, at least once a month they email me and ask what new music have I found, what old music have I discovered or rediscovered. On message boards, it’s been “What concerts have you been too?” That one always takes me ages to complete, I have been blessed to see so many great concerts that often times I forget who I’ve seen. These are the ones I remember, and are from 1995 until now.
- 311 (x 2)
- Static-X (x2) (met some of the guys after the show)
- Disturbed (x3) (met all the boys…DD still gives me the creeps though)
- James Brown
- Dr John (one of the nicest men I have ever met, straight up Nawlin’s)
- Jamiroquai
- Eminem (x2)
- Dr Dre
- Ice Cube
- Snoop Dog
- Opiate for the Masses (if you do anything, you must see Ron Underwood live)
- Stone Temple Pilots (Prior to their break up, Scott was incredible)
- David Bowie (he winked at me and I went all fan girl)
- Smashing Pumpkins
- Kanye West (only for Jesus Walks with a full choir, truly amazing to see live)
- Beastie Boys (x4)
- Raphael Sadiq (awful, he forgot the words to his songs, brutal)
- Talib Kweli
- Taproot
- Chevelle (pretty bad live when I saw them, but I still love em)
- Unloco
- Ill Nino
- The Prodigy (one of the most insane shows I have ever attended, incredible energy)
- David Wilcox (some people call me a bad apple)
- Billy Talent
- Nate Dogg
- RHCP
- Finger Eleven
- Front Line Assembly
- Our Lady Peace (1st cd, after that meh)
Most of those are just headliners, I can’t remember all the openers I’ve seen. Not to mention living in downtown Toronto and watching all the award show practices.
Obviously, my music tastes are all over the board. On a daily basis I hear classical music at work and I have developed a love for it. Country really isn’t my thing, but if I have to I can bust a mean line dance. As of right now, I’ve been into alot of Industrial and EBM.
My goal this summer when I am in the City and not basking at the cottage, is to see as many local bands that I can. I haven’t been a big supporter of Canadian music, I think the CC Law has made me loath most radio played Canadian bands. So I am going to do my best to see as many hidden Toronto gems that I can.
