Linda Wisdom – Interview & Contest
October 26, 2009 in Author Interviews, Contests
I am pleased to welcome one of my favorite authors, Linda Wisdom to Writings of a Wicked Book Addict. Linda’s Hex series includes, 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover, Hex Appeal, Wicked By Any Other Name & Hex in High Heels.
First, welcome to Writings of a Wicked Book Addict. Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions.
Pixie: Can you tell us about Hex in High Heels?
Linda: Hex in High Heels takes up several months after Wicked By Any Other Name left off. Blair wants to pursue a relationship with Jake, Jake would like the same, but he’s leery since he isn’t sure she could handle his Were nature. Silly doggie! Making matters worse is the arrival of Jake’s former Pack, his mother and brother who don’t bring warm and fuzzy to the mix. Not to mention some elves that Santa wouldn’t want around them. Blair isn’t about to allow Jake’s family members to create trouble for him and since revenge spells are her specialty there’s no problem there. Although now she has Fluff and Puff as a tattoo on her ankle. Makes for an interesting time!
Pixie: Why did you choose to focus on Blair for the third novel?
Linda: Writing about Blair was pretty much a given considering the end of Wicked By Any Other Name where we see Jake’s true nature.
Pixie: So far the Sister Witches have found matches with a Vampire, A Wizard & now a Were-border collie (ha). What paranormals are next?
Linda: I’ve got a sexy half fire demon coming up and a ghost. I never like to make it easy for the witches!
Pixie: Can you tell us about Thea’s story, The Best Hex Ever?
Linda: My publisher did some rescheduling so the next book will be Maggie next October and Thea’s book will be out after that. Maggie is a protection specialist and now she’s doing duty looking after a mouthy teenager who’s the target of an ancient Mayan priest and dealing with a very seductive half demon who’s got an agenda of his own.
Pixie: Where did you come up with all of the sidekicks?
Linda: Fluff and Puff showed up because I always pictured Jazz wearing bunny slippers sporting fangs and attitude. They all seem to pop into my head to fit the witch they’re paired with.
Pixie: I love Horace, do you think Horace will ever find a love match? Will Fluff & Puff get rid of the curse?
Linda: Hard to say with Horace or if a female gargoyle would want him. He’s actually the one who was cursed for hitting on a troll’s wife. Fluff and Puff have their own magick and it protects them.
Pixie: Will we ever find out what Witch caused all the girls to be banished to the human world?
Linda: Oh yes. So far it feels like it will be the last book in the series.
Pixie: What about the lake “monster”, will we find out more about that?
Linda: The lake monster will show up again. I think it’s cool that so many readers picked up on that and now want more.
Pixie: Do you plan to tell the story of every sister?
Linda: That’s what I hope to do. Naturally, it depends on the readers. If the demand is there, my publisher will keep contracting the books!
Pixie: Finally, I noticed Hex in High Heels has a lot of music references, what music inspires you when you write?
Linda: It depends on the witch. Some prefer golden oldies, others classic, hard rock, and even zydeco. Probably because it’s echoing what I listen to. My playlist on my iPod seems to change with each witch.
Pixie: Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for me Linda!
Linda: You’re very welcome, Natasha! Thank you for having me!

Linda has offered up a signed copy of Hex in High Heels to 1 lucky commentor. Just answer the following question, if you could have any side kick, what would your side kick be?
Contest closes, Sunday November 1st. Winner will be announced on Monday November 2, using Random . Org please leave a valid email address, one entry per person.

Hi Linda & Pixie! I think that having a nice sexy shifter as my side kick would be fabulous! Awesomely strong and can shift into a animal, what more can you ask for. I have read 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover and loved it. Please enter me into the contest. Have a good one
I would like a pixie sidekick. OR maybe a talking dog. A pixie could sneak in and out of places but since I don’t have any need for sneaking, a talking dog would be good for protection and companionship.
My sidekick would be a shifter. That way if I needed them to turn into an animal to get into places I couldn’t they’d be able to help me. Not that I’m sneaky or anything.
Thanks for the contest!!!
My sidekick would definitely be a wolf shifter! He would be able to save me if I did anything stupid!

Sorry for responding so late. My husband had surgery today.
And how fun so many want shifter sidekicks. I agree they’re fun and a lot you can do with them.
Linda
I agree a Shifter Sidekick would be pretty cool…
I think I would want a psychic side kick. That way they could warn me of impending trouble. It would be nice to know what was going to happen.
Hi Pixie & Linda!
Linda, I hope your husbands’ surgury went well and that he recovers quickly.
Hmmm… I’m going to have to go with seriously wanting Eric Northman/Alexander Skarsgard as my sidekick. Yep, I could really handle having to look at him everyday and having him helping me out on a daily basis or nightly seeing as how he’s a smokin hot strong vampire.
And he can fly! How cool is that? No more getting stuck in traffic.
I love how you’re all giving it a lot of thought. Not just what you want as a sidekick but also what they do.
Linda
I’ve always seen the perfect as a talking black cat that would help get me out of sticky situtations. Its because I watched a lot of Sailormoon episodes growing up and really liked her talking cat Luna.
I remember Sailormoon! Yes, a cat like Luna would be fun.
Linda
I would want a talking dog as my sidekick, that would be awesome.
