So…you’d think after banishing an immortal being and a fallen High Priestess, saving Stark’s life, biting Heath, getting a headache from Erik, and almost dying, Zoey Redbird would catch a break. Sadly, a break is not in the House of Night school forecast for the High Priestess in training and her gang. Juggling three guys is anything but a stress reliever, especially when one of them is a sexy Warrior who is so into protecting Zoey that he can sense her emotions. Speaking of stress, the dark force lurking in the tunnels under the Tulsa Depot is spreading, and Zoey is beginning to believe Stevie Rae could be responsible for a lot more than a group of misfit red fledglings. Aphrodite’s visions warn Zoey to stay away from Kalona and his dark allure, but they also show that it is Zoey who has the power to stop the evil immortal. Soon it becomes obvious that Zoey has no choice: if she doesn’t go to Kalona he will exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. Will Zoey have the courage to chance losing her life, her heart, and her soul? Find out in the next spectacular installment in the House of Night Series, Tempted .

Tempted is a different format than the former HoN novels, instead of focusing only on Zoey it switches back & forth between Zoey, Stevie-Ray & a few other characters. It makes for a more interesting novel, one thats faster paced. I actually haven’t been the biggest fan of the HoN series, but this one was the best of the series.

I found with the previous novels, they were trying to hard to hard to appeal to the teenage audience. Truth be told, I am a little iffy of this series being geared to a teenage audience. Yes, I understand freedom of speech & that teenagers do know about sex, but some of the language used is a bit much for a teen novel. Twilight this is not, in terms of chastity.

Zoey once again is surrounded by many boys who want to be her boyfriend, and again theres big drama with Neferete. The gang end up in Italy to speak to the high council about whats been going on, then there is a big surprise ending that shocked even me.

The writing has evolved past the annoying twin refernces everytime Erin and Shaunee, though there are a few of them. There are still the gay jokes in regards to Jack & Damien, but it’s nothing you wouldn’t hear from a teenage nowadays. Aphrodite is still a bitch, but there’s a big development between her and Darius. Erik is pretty bitter because of all the boys surrounding Zoey, and that all comes to a big bang-out with him & Zoey.

Would I recommend it? Sure, but not to my 16 year old niece.

Good review. I ordered this (I think) and I do like the series. It is not one of my favorites, but I am inversted enough to keep reading. I agree about the sex in these books. I have cringed a few times (thinking of young girls reading). I am curious about the change in writing. It will be interesting to get POV from the ohter characters.

I liked it much better then the rest, and I am with you..I just want to know what happens. Big cliff hanger ending though. Boo Hiss. But really, I wouldn’t want my nieces anywhere near this series, its too sexual for that age range imo.
