Nemi Vol. 3 – Lise Myhre
November 20, 2009 in Graphic Novels, Reviews
Meet Nemi Montoya, the vegetarian, cynical/romantic, hilariously honest twenty-something goth, in this brand new collection from artist Lise Myhre!
Hang out in the pub with Nemi and her friends, including her flatmate, the blue-haired Cyan; hear her opinions on romance and dating; watch her watch TV in her untidy flat; learn how she feels about birch trees, spiders and blondes; and generally experience the highs and lows of being Nemi in the modern world!
A superstar in her native Norway thanks to the immense success of Nemi - also reprinted in the 1.35 million-circulation UK Metro newspaper - you too can enter Lise Myhre’s witty, wonderful world!
What can I say about Nemi? She’s the big sister you wished you had, the greatest best-friend you could have..in short, she’s wicked. She has great taste in music, drinks like a fish & smokes like a chimney. She’s crass & brutally honest which makes her easy to fall for.
I admit, the first few stories I wasn’t that into but boy did I get into this, I finished it in 2 hours.
Every late 20 something to 40 something female with have something in common with Nemi. I laughed out loud when she said the soul educational purpose of Google is to look up Nudes + Peter Steele. Been there done that. Ha. And I was right with her on the hatred of peoples first question upon meeting you being “What do you do?”. The artwork is fabulous, Nemi is adorable in some, drunk as a skunk in others & sultry. In short, Nemi is every woman. She loves life, her best-friend & still manages to act childish in her 20′s.
My only issue with Nemi, is some of the translations didn’t go over well. Other than that, love love loved her.
My Rating: 4.5/5
