Bitten To Death – Jennifer Rardin

n252549Jaz Parks here. My latest mission has taken me to the ancient Greek city of Patras; but instead of soaking up its splendor, I’m here to infiltrate a Vampere Trust. Only two vamps have ever escaped the tightly bound communities and lived to tell the tale: Edward “The Raptor”Samos, the most reviled criminal mastermind in recent memory, and Vayl, the CIA’s number one assassin who also happens to be my boss.

The Raptor is trying to take over Vayl’s former Trust. Unfortunately the Trust’s new leader has her own plans.

This job is going to be the death of me.

I am a “bit” late coming into Jen’s Jaz Park’s Series, on an extremely long first phone call convo with Judi aka Sidhe Vicious I got the low down on the series and promptly went out and bought the first three books in the series. I haven’t stopped reading them since, this is one of my favorite series now. I went and bought the remaining three and have been reading very slowly so I can savour the series. Pathetic I am, I don’t want them to end!

Jaz is a CIA assassin partnered with her boss, a very old vampire, Vayl. Jaz has survived death and in the process gained an ability to sense vampires and is imune to their powers. In Bitten to Death (Book 4) they go to Greece to once again try and stop Edward Samos (a real big bad), as usual something else comes up. This time it’s a bunch of issues at Vayl’s old vampire Trust, otherwise known as a Family. Jaz finds out more secrets about Vayl’s past that freak her out and make her wonder if she should just give up any idea of them ever being a couple. Meanwhile, Jaz’s twin brother Dave, is still trying to get over basically being made a zombie by the Wizard and has turned to alcohol to dull the whole ordeal. Dave is on this mission with Jaz and Vayl and things are about to get real funky when a secret Vayl’s hidden turns on them all.

I am a huge fan of Jen’s writing, the sexual tension between Jaz and Vayl is unlike anything I’ve ever read. I want to jump through the book and strangle Jaz whilst screaming “Jump his bones girl”. Between the action and the sexual tension, there’s hilarious inner monologues with Jaz talking to herself and the voices in her head. Nevermind the scene where Jaz gets humped by a giant dog, I was in hysteric’s picturing it.

If you haven’t read this series, run out and get it. You’ll thank me later. It’s truly one of the best Urban Fantasy series out there.

Rating 5/5

I have a girl crush on Jaz and a totally different kind of crush on Vayl. I have book #3 sitting on my shelf giving me the evil eye for not reading it yet. I’m glad to hear the series keeps getting good!

I love this series too! It’s one of my favorites. I’ve just read it in the last few months, but I adore Jaz! I haven’t read the newest book yet, and I’m dying to, but promised myself I wouldn’t buy it until after Christmas if I don’t get it then. I completely get what your saying about the sexual tension, I just want to smack Jaz sometimes or just throw her at Vayle to maybe get things started! Oh, and the conversations in her head, especially her grandmothers card games, are hilarious!!
