WLP: Welcome to Writings of a Wicked Book Addict. It’s nice to have you here Michelle.
MR: Thank you! Great to be here! Happy holidays!
WLP: Christmas is 8 days away, but here in Canada we start hearing the Christmas Music, seeing the commercials etc November 1st. Are you sick of Christmas yet?
MR: Not yet, but probably soon. I have fond feelings toward this time of year so the music and Xmas ambiance make me feel happy even when it’s starting to get seriously frigid here in the Toronto area.
WLP: Do you have any holiday traditions?
MR: Christmas at my folks. Stockings are exchanged along with regular gifts. Turkey dinner and all the trimmings. Mmm, cranberry sauce. And lately, a tradition is seeing a movie on Xmas afternoon. I think this year it just might be Sherlock Holmes or Avatar. Festive!
WLP: Do you buy a real tree or stick with the fake ones?
MR: Since I spend Xmas eve and Xmas day with my family, I don’t have a tree in my. I can blame it on the cats because they’d probably eat it and choke on the tinsel. That’s just my excuse though, when really, I’m just too lazy to put one up.
I have a ceramic Santa on a shelf. Does that count?
WLP: What is your favorite Christmas memory?
MR: When I was a kid I’d put out milk and cookies for Santa and in the morning they’d be gone (except for some strategically placed tell-tale crumbs, of course). I swear, believing in Santa made Christmas magical and there was literally a sparkle over Christmas morning when I’d come down to see what Santa left for me and my sister. I miss that unquestionable belief in something otherworldly. Now I have to make up stories about demons and vampires to get that magic back!
WLP: What is the worst gift you’ve ever received?
MR: A well-meaning aunt gave 11-year-old me a very practical set of flannel bed sheets while my little sister got a really cool stuffed dog that was also a radio! So unfair!!!
WLP: Favorite holiday smell?
MR: Cooking turkey! OMG. As much as I’d like to be a vegetarian since I am so against animal abuse and hunting… kill the turkeys because they are so yummy! KILL THEM NOW! Second favorite smell is gingerbread. Much less violent.
WLP: 2009 has been a busy year for you; with the last book in the Sarah Dearly series, a new YA series and your first Harlequin Blaze book. What is 2010 looking like for you?
MR: 2010 is looking to be pretty darn busy too! I have the first two books in my new paranormal romance series, Living in Eden, with The Demon in Me in May and Something Wicked in October. It’s a romantic look at demonic possession.
In June the second book in my Demon Princess young adult series, Reign Check, hits the shelves. I have a weird obsession with demons lately — I have no idea why. In July I’m going to be in the YA anthology, Kiss Me Deadly. I don’t think it’ll be about demons, though. I’ll try branching out a bit.
WLP: Do you think we’ll ever hear from Sarah Dearly again?
MR: I would actually really love to write another Sarah story — which would probably revolve around a certain vampiric wedding — and I’d need at least a solid novella to do it any justice. If I’m ever given the chance, I am open to it in a big way. However, that sort of stuff just ain’t always up to the author. As it sits right now, it’s probably not going to happen as I have so much other stuff on my plate to keep me busy. I do miss my vamps, though! They were so much fun to write.
WLP: What is your favorite part about writing?
MR: When the characters come to life on the page and start writing the story themselves. It doesn’t happen often but when it does, it’s seriously like magic. I’ve learned that there are a lot of challenging things about being a writer, and it’s really best to focus on and take joy from the process. It’s all about the journey, not the destination for me right now. Although, I do hope I’m headed somewhere sunny with a great view of the ocean.
WLP: Now for a tough one, what’s your favorite book of 2009?
MR: I didn’t read half as much as I would have liked to this year — I’m going to try again in 2010. However, I’d say my fave read was Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. I glommed that book just as I did The Hunger Games. So, so good.
WLP: Yesterday, Nicole Peeler had the chance to ask you a question: Dear Michelle: How many Demon Princesses can fit through the head of a pin?
MR: Eleven. Twelve if they skipped breakfast..
WLP: Now it’s your turn, you get to ask Michele Bardsley a question and she has to answer.
MR: If you weren’t a writer, what would your dream job be and why?
WLP: Thanks for taking the time during the busy holiday season to chat with my readers.

Great interview Michelle. Mmmm, turkey. I will miss sarah Dearly and her gang but you did a great job wrapping it up, it was a satisfying ending. Can’t wait for your new series!
Much love
Thanks Elie. And the new series is near and dear to my heart. I can’t wait till May!
I heart Michelle Rowen, any author that makes me snort when I laugh deserves the VIP spot on my bookshelf!!! Great interview WLP.
I heart you too!!!
ok this 13 wicked days are getting very expensive !!! There is so many autors I do not know !!!! When I use your chapter-indigo links to buy a book, do you have $$$$ ?
Anyway I loved Catching fire too but I was pissed off about having to wait for almost a year for the ending!!!
I do not, I haven’t even thought to set that up! Buy from whatever book place is cheapest though, I have heard Book Depository is the best!
I’m tempted by Book Depository, but I hear it takes a while to get shipments. I like instant gratification so I usually end up going to the bookstore and spending way too much money.
I’ll let you know Michelle. Someone from the US sent me a book
via BD on Monday, so we’ll see how long it takes. I’m the same,
even ordering from Chapters kills me. I hate waiting!
Very cute interview! Mmmm we all love that turkey, can’t wait! I do think they start Christmas way to early. For some reason I have not got burnt out this year. I have enjoyed the music and everything. This is sooo not like me.
Great interview. I miss Sarah too and hopefully we do get that novella one day. But I am looking forward to all the new stuff as well. Thanks!!
Great to hear what’s in store for us.
Yay for Sherlock Holmes! I’ll be watching it too.
What a darling interview. I really enjoyed it. congrats on all the new things coming up in your writing.
Great interview! Ugh, so many more books that I need to buy!
Hi

Thank you for the fun interview. I laughed out loud about the turkeys.
Now I have even more to look forward to in 2010. *fan happy dance*
Merry Christmas,
RKCharron
Thanks for the comments, lovely peeps! You know, I was feeling perky about my 10 comments until I saw how many Mark, Dakota and Nicole have received.
Go read those comments, Mark’s talking about balls. Nicole is talking about vaginas…and Dakota’s being Dakota. LOL
That is so unlike them!
sorry I missed your day awesome interview
Oh, can’t wait for turkey at Christmas. We stayed home at Thanksgiving so didn’t do the turkey thing for just the two of us. And nice as Swiss Chalet is, it just doesn’t compare.
Great interview Michelle!!
Hi Michelle, Loved the interview. I enjoy your books so much. I can’t wait for the new on next year.
Happy Holidays!!!

I enjoyed the interview. When you stated about exchanging stockings, it brought back a memory of one Christmas. One Christmas Eve afternoon, I decided to pull out my stocking to be stuffed ( I can’t recall how old I was but I knew there was no Santa at that point). Anyway, my mother saw the stocking and she called my grandmother, picked her up and went to Rite Aid to buy me stocking stuffers! Then she yelled at me on Christmas day in making her go out the day before! LOL
Thanks,

Yeah, but while your sister was freezing her little buns off, you were rockin’ the warmth of those flannel sheets and taunting that her little dog might play music but it couldn’t keep her warm. lol
