As the Civil War rages among mortal men, Cin Craven is locked in an epic battle of her own—fighting the renegade vampires whose unquenchable appetites she knows all too well. At her side are the immortal warriors of The Righteous—among them her husband, her lover, her soul-mate Michael. With a passion bordering on possession, Cin’s love for Michael knows no bounds. But when a ruthless plantation owner kidnaps Cin’s cousin, the most terrifying battle of all awaits.  Cin is drawn to the irresistible lure of dark magic to stop their enemies, while Michael staunchly opposes it—putting their love and loyalty to the ultimate test.

Bound by Sin is book three in Jenna Maclaine’s Cin Craven Series.

While in France, Cin feels the pull of a summoning spell which leads her back to her home (when she was human) Ravensworth in England. Summoned by a family member Raina, Cin finds out her cousin Claire has been kidnapped and taken to America. Cin also finds out a lot of those she loved during her human life have died due to old age which makes her question her own immortality as a vampire and witch. She promises Raina she will find Claire and bring her home safely, which requires Cin and Michael to go to Georgia during the Civil War where they end up on a plantation amidstslavery times. Cin comes into contact with Pandora, a Voodoo Queen, who tests Cin’s strength and hold on her own black magic. Add in Ares the Greek God of War and you’ve got a whole heep of action.

The loss of some of my favorite character’s in the series was extremely sad to me. I know how pathetic am I? This only made me love the story more as most vampire novels don’t start from the beginning of their “lives”s as vamps but are straight into the present time. With the loss of character’s, you begin to see what’s happening to Cin and her loss of humanity. Which makes you want to find out what Cin’s like in present day!

There are brief appearances by Devlin and Justine but this story centre’s around Cin and Michael. It’s not a story of The Righteous, the vampire organization that Cin, Michael, Devlin and Justine make, but a story of Cin coming full circle and learning how to conquer her two sides and Michael trying to except it.  The love scenes between the two of them are steamy and loving, they’re the perfect vampire couple even if they still do have a lot to learn about each other. There are also a lot of new character’s, even a ghost, which makes me wonder how they will fit into future books. The ending, what an ending. Something big is coming in the next book that involves Cin and Morrigan, the overseer of The Righteous.

Jenna’s writing has gotten cheekier than before, though there’s a lot of saddness in the first few chapters the rest of the book is straight action and you have no idea what’s going to happen! Bound by Sin, easily became my favorite of the series and I truly don’t know how I am going to wait until the next book comes out! Who knew Historical Paranormal Romance’s could be this exciting and action packed?!

My Rating: 5/5
