Business has never been better for hit man Karl Vance. Boston is awash in mafia blood, and as a master vampire, Vance has a certain fondness for blood. Hes sworn to never again feed on the blood of innocents, preying instead on the criminal underworld. Which makes him a valuable asset to those who deal in death.

Maria Ricardi intends to use that asset to its full extent in order to gain power within her patriarchal crime family. Vance thinks hes been hired to keep track of her, but shes got a plan to earn the respect she deserves. And shes not above using their instant attraction to get what she wants. Her ambition draws the attention of a rival clans most dangerous consultant.

Alejandro Delgado, Vance’s centuries-old nemesis. Delgado zeroes in on the one chink in Vances armor his fondness for Maria. Now shes enslaved by Delgados unnatural kiss. Only one thing is certain. Vance has to decide which he wants more. To settle the score or rescue her soul.

The warning on the back of the book caught my attention:

Warning: Intense, graphic mafia-related violence, profanity, gangster slang, assassinations, fang punctures, explicit vampire sex, betrayal, greed, murder, gangland warfare, pervasive supernatural mayhem, large-scale explosions, and extremely expensive Italian suits.

How can you not want to get into this novel after reading that?

I had heard all sorts of good things about Keith Melton via my friend Kindle Vixen, so when I got my hands on this book I knew I’d enjoy it (I trust her judgement, even if she reads slow!). Melton didn’t disappoint! I was stunned Vampires + Mobsters, a new combo that works incredibly well. From the beginning it’s all about the action, murders, mob wars and romance all wrapped up into one original story.

What I loved most was that Vampire’s once again are shown to be what they are, violent and primal. Vance is a hit-man, not a fuzzy lovable character though he does have a conscience and still believes in going as close as he can to Holy ground to repent. I only had one issue with the book, the love scene just didn’t cut it for me. I’m a woman and immediately noticed the lack of foreplay between Maria and Vance, come on Vance slow it down!

If you are looking for a wild adventure with a Vampire & not something that sparkles, pick up Blood Vice. Ladies as an added bonus, you get to stare at the cover model. *fans self*
