WLP Blog Questions

It’s closing on almost a year of this websites existence and I have a few questions I want to ask you readers about my content.

I am going to keep WLP Wants To Know,  because I like hearing your responses to the topics. But do you want this once a week, or on a specific date all the time?

I am obviously going to keep doing reviews, but I was wondering again do you want to see these on a specific day or should I just review as I read?

I see a lot of bloggers doing memes, I am not a fan of the meme…especially when I look at my feed reader & there’s 40 blogs all doing the same meme with no actual content other than what books they want, or what they’re reading etc. You can see what I am reading by looking at my sidebar or following me on GoodReads, so I don’t think I need that specific meme but there’s tons…so do I need any?

Speaking of other blogs, they also post book covers when they come out. I’m not a big fan of cover blog posts because most of them lack the actual content of the book and to be honest its a lot of work searching out new covers. Would you like that done here?

As always, the monthly list of releases will always be available on the top on it’s own page “Upcoming Releases”

Authors Interviews will happen when they happen, as will contests.

Is there anything you’d like to see that I don’t do? Or anything I should change? Let me know! Is the format of the blog itself bother you? Anything, just let me know.

But thank you all for following this weird journey with me. I never would have thought people would hang around and care what I had to say.

i am ehhh on the meme’s. I do like the wishlist one because I often get ideas for books I haven’t seen or heard of yet.

I love the WLP Wants To Know section! You can post them on a daily basis if you want =)
The reviews, is it not easier if you post them as you read? That is fine with me.
The memes -bleh… The cover posts, they are okay, but I do not mind much about them. And I am with @Kindle Vixen ^ with the wishlist thing!! I like that idea! =P

I like your blog as it is, random (in a good way) ^-^

Thanks Ale, lol I don’t think I can come up with a daily WLP Wants To Know though! LOL

Eeeck! Don’t change a darn thing! I think your blog is wonderful just the way it is! In fact, it’s thanks to you and BBB that i become inspired/interested in starting a blog of my own! Kudo’s to Pixie! Great job!

I say do the reviews as you finish a book. That way you don’t feel like you have to rush through a book to meet your deadline. I don’t really care about cover post either, unless the cover is horrid and we all want to make fun it.

Hey Pixie, a year already, time flies. Here’s my 2 cents…I would say post reviews when you do them. I like Waiting on Wed. I actually build my wish list from these posts. I do IMM, but I am not sure if I will continue, I can say it bringa a lot of traffic. I sometimes post covers, with content when available, but Dark Faerie Tales and SciFi usually do a great job of covering all of them.

I love the layout of your blog, it is very easy on the eyes, not cluttered, ect. LOOKS great.
You have great content, funny interviews. I wouldn’t change a thing.

I like to visit and will stick around.

I really don’t like IMM, like REALLY don’t like it. It makes me feel bad for new bloggers who don’t get review books. It kinda is like a “look what I got” post. I have asked authors/publicists about it, do they want credit when they send a book for review. I’ve been told no, in a personal email is fine.

Thanks Elie, I love that people like the layout (cause it only took me 6 other layouts to like this one! LOL)

I feel like you do about the memes and the cover posts. I noticed when J.R. Ward released the new cover on her boards EVERYONE blogged about it. The memes are that way too. Sigh. I don’t know how readers feel. I love your blog, and I think it’s fantastic that you have so many followers after just a year.

I only have one idea for you. Next year you should make a reading challenge out of your series list. I know you would do such a cool job at hosting it!

I hear you, today it was Suzanne Collins book cover everywhere. Though I liked seeing it, I don’t think everyone needs to post it.

I love that idea! LOVE IT!!! TY TY TY

I’m not terribly concerned with when exactly you decide to post an entry. Your handy rss feed gets pulled regularly into firefox with the rest of my feeds and I check those twenty or thirty times a day if I’m not currently distracted by a book. Unless it’s something time-critical, there’s no decided upside to an entry coming out one day or the next.

Book covers? Feh. Link the author’s or amazon’s page for the book and I’ll look at it there if I want. One of the main things I like about your blog, aside from the easy on the eyes color scheme, is the lack of clutter and picture chaos. Simple and uncluttered works for google and it’s hard to gainsay them on anything Internet related.

Memes? Nah, this isn’t AOL, geocities, myspace, facebook, or 4chan. Slashdot taught me that Interesting, Informative, and Insightful trump Funny and Redundant every time.

I’ll get back to you on suggestions, don’t have the time just now and this comment is long enough already.

Can’t wait to hear your suggestions, i’m sure they’ll be interesting.

I have to agree with you on the memes.Ii hate when I go to my Google Reader and 50% have the same new cover posted. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing the new covers as they come out, but not 50 times in 2 days. And a new cover definitely needs a blub telling us what the book is about. I must say though, I love the uncluttered, neat presentation here. I hate trying to read a review and there are fireworks going off or sparkles all over. I hate to see a blogger work so hard and then us not be able to clearly read her thoughts because the clutter obscures part of her words. I think you should post your reviews as you finish the books. I’ve just started a blog (manly for my benefit) and yours is one that I really envy.

I have only discovered your blog in the last couple of months, and I am not really a blog person. Just like everyone else has said it is usually the same thing over and over. Yours is simple and fun. I can find the covers all over the place.

I really like that the website is simple, clear and still eye catching. For all of those reasons I keep coming back more and more often.

    Thanks!
