There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them.
Genesis 6:5
Sister Evangeline was just a girl when her father entrusted her to the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in upstate New York. Now, at twenty-three, her discovery of a 1943 letter from the famous philanthropist Abigail Rockefeller to the late mother superior of Saint Rose Convent plunges Evangeline into a secret history that stretches back a thousand years: an ancient conflict between the Society of Angelologists and the monstrously beautiful descendants of angels and humans, the Nephilim.
For the secrets these letters guard are desperately coveted by the once-powerful Nephilim, who aim to perpetuate war, subvert the good in humanity, and dominate mankind. Generations of angelologists have devoted their lives to stopping them, and their shared mission, which Evangeline has long been destined to join, reaches from her bucolic abbey on the Hudson to the apex of insular wealth in New York, to the Montparnasse cemetery in Paris and the mountains of Bulgaria.
First, I must say Angelology has the most beautiful book cover I have ever seen in my life. When I took this book out of the envelope it came in, I just sat and stared at it. The pictures online don’t show how beautiful it is.
I am not going to reiterate the description of the book, because this one really does it justice and I couldn’t explain it any simpler than an ages old battle between the Nephilim (dark angels) and humanity.
Nephilim: Known for their beauty, the Nephilim are decendants of angels & humans who have perpetuated war & subverted the good in humanity for centuries
Angelology is a really complex book, if you think you can read it in two days, sorry not going to happen. It’s so detail rich and there are so many different angles of the story, you just couldn’t read it quickly or you would miss something important. It is crammed with history from the present to WW2, with multiple characters and references to real people (Abigail Rockefeller).
Angelology: The study of angels. Angelologists are humans who have devoted their lives to fighting the Nephilim
Angelology wasn’t something I would have normally picked up to be honest with you, but I am glad I had a chance to read it. It gives such a different take on Angels, so much so they even come across as scarier than vampires. Trussoni’s writing is unlike anything i’ve ever read, you really can picture the worlds shes crafted right down to the ice forming on the river. The pace of the book starts gaining speed within the first few pages and the plot is intense.
Angelology has had a lot of press, with people calling it the next DaVinci Code. Trust me, it’s better! There’s also talk of Will Smith’s production company taking it on. If you want to fall into a world that quite possibly could exist without our knowledge…pick up Angelology March 9th.
This sounds like an amazing read. This is the first review that I’ve read of this book but I will definitely be adding it to my TBR list! Great review!!
Thanks Samantha!
I sooo cannot wait to read this book! =D I must admit, at the beginning it was just because I heard it is about angels (demons and angels are my weakness) LOL… But after reading your review I am even more excited about reading it! =)
Great review! and better than the DaVinci Code *eeep* AWESOME!
It’ll be right up your alley than Ale, the angels are very “demonic” and dark.
Sweet! I think that my body is now all tingly with book lust, cannot wait for the sweet release that reading is! =P LOL
Thanks for the great review this is a must read on my list
Thanks Jess!
I’ve been curious about this book and I’m glad to see that you liked it. I do love the cover too, it’s interesting..kind of dark.
It totally fits the book
I do love that cover
This one is getting lots of buzz and it sounds like it is holding up to it
Thats what made this one of the hardest reviews I’ve ever had to write, the press scares & intimidates me! LOL
This sounds like a great read but I’m worried that it will be like “The Historian” which was difficult for me to read (I’m about 40 pages from the end, a year ago).
My question: Did the story keep you sucked in through the various multiple views? It’s a weird question but if the story kept you intrigue then it’s better than “The Historian”.
Jennifer, i’ve read The Historian and i have to admit that it was hard to read (well, i am not a native English speaker and i’ve read it in both English and Romanian), took a very long time (a week on a book, if it is not Nietzsche, is long). this…you’ll be staying up all night reading. I’ve read it in 2days
loved it! and now we’re publishing it! Best of wishes!
It’s is an amazing book. I loved it, and devoured it. (Hate to spoil your theory, But I read it in less than 3 days. — We all have different reading abilities and appetites, one shouldn’t project you own reading pace onto others. I’m just saying.)
Danielle has created a world I wanted to be in. I want to be an angelologist! (I have degrees in theology and we never had that kind of excitement! I want to go to that Parisian academy. The cloak and dagger is appealing.)
Like Harry Potter has inspired a generation longing to go to Hogwart’s, so Danielle has inspired the study of angels, and perhaps more . . .
If you liked this, may I suggest a non-fiction book that will rattle your angel cages too? It’s Angels on My Stage: The True Story of Eddie Benitez.
Danielle could use it as a reference book! This is a musician who claims his whole life he’s been seeing and talking with and taught be angels — and now he’s passing it on. And these are tough angels too. No wimpy greeting card angels. The real thing.
Check it out, and maybe do a review of it too.
