WLP Wants To Know: Bookshelves & Caskets?!

Yes, you read that title correctly. I come across some pretty weird things in my online travels, this takes the cake.

This is the bookcase coffin.  It’s two seven-inch-deep boxes hinged together.  The shelves are adjustable.  When preparing it to be used as a coffin, the shelves are laid on the bottom of the coffin.

That had me googling, with my morning coffee. Yes, googling caskets before Noon. Weird. This is my favorite & really what a great conversation piece, though it’s a bit morbid.

So I want to know, what do you think? Would you pick one of these up? Does it creep you out?

I would in a heartbeat! Where can I sign up for one, or at least the plans to make one because I would build it myself!!

  • Jennifer March 4, 2010 at 11:25 am

I’d totally buy the second one only because people wouldn’t notice at first that it was a casket. The first one thought REALLY weird is not as pretty as the second one. =)

(grrr, stupid enter button. Could you delete my previous comment?) I would buy that first one in a heartbeat–no pun intended–but I’d be afraid of my books falling out of the second one. Plus, if I needed to move, easy transport of my books with the first one! :-)

LMAO! The first one just creeps me out but yes, you just shut the lid and you’re good to move!

Cool idea. Were you aware that you can order caskets and urns from Wal-Mart? Yep, blew my mind too.

    • Becky March 4, 2010 at 12:39 pm

Really?? I didn’t know that!! Thats hilarious!

    • The Mighty Buzzard March 4, 2010 at 1:07 pm

You think that that’s disturbing? I just listened to KMFDM do a cover of Material Girl.

    • Wicked Lil Pixie March 4, 2010 at 6:51 pm

Yes I found that out a few months back & was horrified, thankfully it’s US only. I’d rather not turn the corner and run into a casket…Costco also has them on their website!

OMG! I just love these!! Too bad they do not fit in my appt. right now… But I am soooo getting something like that when I live on my own– Soon hopefully!! AWESOME!! Thanks for sharing them! LOL

Well those are different. I’d get them though. Love the look of the second one, it just wouldn’t fit enough on it for the space it would take up. The first one really would come in really handy for a move!

    • Wicked Lil Pixie March 4, 2010 at 6:52 pm

Yeah it doesn’t have a lot of room, but I think its more “decor” though morbid.

Considering my book collection is primarily vampires, werewolves, magic, hell anything relating to fantasy – these are necessary for me. C’mon now. How else would you truly display your favorite vampire novels except in a coffin?

I want a set of those DIY plans if you find them, too!

[...] cannot be the only person who would want these. Wicked Little Pixie found the most perfect bookshelves for the Urban Fantasy enthusiast – Coffin Bookshelves.  I [...]

    …coffin casket bookshelves. Um…noes, I shall pass. O_O

    • Wicked Lil Pixie March 4, 2010 at 6:55 pm

Come on, they’d be great for threats…”do you want to end up in my bookshelf?”

  • Jackie Burris March 4, 2010 at 7:11 pm

Awesome and way too cute and ghoulish for words to think of my books in any kind of coffin book shelves. I would however buy both sets if knew could get away with setting them up with all my vamps, zombies, werewolves, ghouls, sirens book series in my house but my DH would never let me!!!

As usual Natasha you found something truly unique and thanks for sharing…

Oh man I agree I want the plans too or if they are already made the site to order them from. Bookcases as well as coffee tables, I think it would be great in my house of skulld, dragons, wizards, wolves, and all other manor of fantasy I have. What great HALLOWEEN decorations too. Please oh please get me the plans or the site that sells them. Thanks Belinda W.
