Her psychic gift drove away the man she loved— and years later has drawn him back to her…
As a teenager, Taige Branch hated her psychic gift. No one could understand—except for Cullen Morgan, the boy who stole her heart. He did his best to accept her, until his mother was brutally murdered—and he couldn’t forgive Taige for not preventing it.
Now a widowed father, Cullen Morgan has never forgotten Taige. But what brings her back into his life is another tragedy. His beloved little girl has been kidnapped, and Taige is his only hope of finding her. Working together against the clock, Cullen and Taige can’t help but wonder whether—if they find his daughter in time—it isn’t too late for the overpowering love that still burns between them…
Taige Branch has a gift, she can sense when someone is in trouble & save them. Sometimes she can, sometimes she can’t. She couldn’t save her own parents & the only family member left in her family is an Uncle who happens to think Taige’s gift is sent from the devil & constantly calls her evil. He brutalizes Taige until she finally stands up for herself, but that doesn’t keep him from verbally harassing her. As a teenager she couldn’t save her boyfriend Cullen Morgan’s mother from being brutally murdered, Cullen couldn’t forgive her for it. Taige’s life hasn’t been an easy one, but in her twenties she decides to use her gift to help law enforcement, one such encounter brings Cullen back into her life, when his daughter is kidnapped. Cullen & Taige have been apart from each other for years, but they still have strong feelings for one another.
The Missing is a re-release but this time it is available in mass market paperback.
Shiloh Walker crafted an amazing story in The Missing, I couldn’t put it down. The words flowed from the page, rich with emotion & strength. There were times where I wanted to shake Taige & strangle Cullen, they were perfect for each other from the get go, but they’re both strong characters who just have to take the hard route for everything. It was really emotional for me, I even had a nightmare about some of the scenes that happened. I rarely react on that level with a book, which made me love it all the more.
What drew me most into the story was the emotions that you could truly feel, Taige has been through every kind of hell imaginable (death of her parents, abusive uncle, ridicule over her gift, gossip about her being strange..etc). When Cullen finally breaks through her shell it’s like another person emerges in Taige, one with hope. But that’s quickly shattered, yet Taige keeps on going damaged as she is.
The Missing is one of the greatest romantic suspense’s I’ve read to date, your heart is in for something intense.
