When Evie Walker goes home to spend time with her dying father, she discovers that his creaky old house in Hope’s Fort, Colorado, is not the only legacy she stands to inherit. Hidden behind the old basement door is a secret and magical storeroom, a place where wondrous treasures from myth and legend are kept safe until they are needed again. The magic of the storeroom prevents access to any who are not intended to use the items. But just because it has never been done does not mean it cannot be done.

And there are certainly those who will give anything to find a way in.

Evie must guard the storeroom against ancient and malicious forces, protecting the past and the future even as the present unravels around them. Old heroes and notorious villains alike will rise to fight on her side or to undermine her most desperate gambits. At stake is the fate of the world, and the prevention of nothing less than the apocalypse.

I am a huge fan of Carrie Vaughn’s Kitty Norville Series, so when I got an ARC of Discord’s Apple I was uber excited. 100 pages in, I just couldn’t do it anymore.

I really wanted to like it, I tried to re-start it & had the same issues with it. The heroine was blah, the storyline had way too much going on, to the point I got lost & a world that constantly confused me. To be honest, I can’t even reiterate what I read because I was that lost.

Ms. Vaughn is a great writer (Kitty is an awesome series), but this book just fell flat for me there was just too much going on for me to really get into it.

I’m disappointed to hear that you didn’t enjoy this book as it looked like it could be really good. Oh well.

This is not a good start – my two favourite bloggers DNF a book by one of our favourite authors. :(

    I think I’ll wait for the paperback…

        My bad…

When I read her review, I was left with the impression that Abigail over at ATUF didn’t finish it. I went back just now to double check and I’m glad I did. She did finish it, but was really very disappointed in it.

Sorry to have lead you astray, but I’ll still be waiting for the paperback.
