WLPW2K: Best Book (so far) of 2010

I was sitting here trying to write a review, but my brain refuses to cooperate with me. I’m exhausted, my friends wedding is 3 weeks away and it’s been planning and parties and shopping. Plus working a festival here last weekend, my body just refuses to do anything right now. Old age setting in?

My brain just doesn’t have it in me to review anything for you all today, but my brain has a question….be amazed it works at this point.

I want to know what is your favorite book of 2010 (so far)? You all know I am addicted to Stacia Kane’s Downside Series & it has been the best book (series) I have read so far in 2010. I’m reading Black Swan Rising by Lee Carroll and it’s been one of those books where I didn’t want to answer the phone or go to sleep, it’s just that good.

So whats yours? Maybe something not everyone’s read or talked much about? A hidden gem? I want to know, so I can add more to my scary TBR container of doom.

Among my favorites that I’ve read this year and that were published this year are City of Ghosts by Stacia Kane, Mind Games by Carolyn Crane, Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews and Lover Mine by JR Ward. It’s been a great year for Urban Fantasy reads!

I can’t back you on the Stacia Kane pick. Unholy Ghosts, while it made the top ten for sure, doesn’t top my list and Unholy Magic was very disappointing.

Predictable, I know, but I’ve still got to go with Jim Butcher’s Changes. Honorable mention also going to P.N. Elrod and Andrzej Sapkowski who would have had to duke it out for first place absent Butcher.

I think the series I was most surprised to love was the Uglies series by Scott Westerfield. I also really loved Dark & Disorderly by Bernia Harris.

I’ve read some pretty good books this year (and some only average) but the stand out for me is ‘Soulless’ by Gail Carriger. ‘Unholy Ghosts’ gets an honourable mention.

I would have to second both Ilona Andrews series and Souless by Gail Carriger.
