I don’t think you all understand how excited I am to have Sherrilyn Kenyon here today. Back before all this crazy blog business, Mrs. Kenyon’s Dark Hunter Series was the first Paranormal I ever touched & funny enough the first Paranormal Spaz picked up as well. I’ve also heard from fellow reviewers, she was there first as well. So a big Thank You to Mrs. Kenyon for creating us monsters!
At the bottom of this interview, I will post the winner for the No Mercy giveaway that happened last week!
Live fast, fight hard and if you have to die then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there’s a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she’s ever faced before.
Shapeshifter Dev Peltier has stood guard at the front of Sanctuary for almost two hundred years and in that time, he’s seen it all. Or so he thought. Now their enemies have discovered a new source of power- one that makes a mockery of anything faced to date.
The war is on and Dev and Sam are guarding ground zero. But in order to win, they will have to break the most cardinal of all rules and pray it doesn’t unravel the universe as we know it.
WLP: Welcome to WLP, thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions.
SLK: My pleasure, sweetie. Thanks so much for letting me come out and play for a bit. And thank you so much for that wonderful intro. You guys rock!
WLP: Can you tell us in 3 sentences or less about No Mercy?
SLK: It’s the story of Dev Peltier one of the werebears who owns Sanctuary and Sam Savage an Amazon Dark-Huntress. Now that the Daimons can walk in daylight, the battle for the world is heating up and Dev and Sam are caught in the middle. It’s kill or be killed and they are our best hope.
WLP: No Mercy is the 19th book in the Dark Hunter Series; do you find it easier to write them now?
SLK: Not at all. It’s a challenge to keep the characters and plot lines all radically different from the previously written books. I don’t want to recycle dialogue or anything else.
WLP: What is the usually time it takes for you to write a story cover to cover?
SLK: Depends on the book. Anywhere from several months to several years.
Spaz: Did you find it challenging to write the first Chronicles of Nick book: Infinity, then switch to the mind frame of the adult Dark-Hunter world with Dev and Sam?
SLK: Not even a little bit. I really liked being able to explore Nick as a 14 year old and to bring back some of the favorite characters in the original setting for the first couple of Dark-Hunter books.
Spaz: This will be the first book in the series with a female Dark-Hunter as the heroine. How different was it for you to write from Sam’s point of view, and was it more challenging and/or more fun?
SLK: It’s actually not the first. We had Danger in Sins of the Night, there was also Retta. There was no more challenge to her than in writing any of the people in my books. They’re all so different that they have their own fun and their own challenges.
WLP: You have always been so accessible to fans, meet and greets, cons, online, etc. What is your favorite way to interact with fans?
SLK: I prefer to meet them in person. Online poses unique challenges in that they can’t see facial expressions or hear my tone of voice. I have a very sarcastic sense of humor so it’s hard to get that across in text, even with emoticons.
WLP: I met you in Toronto at World’s Biggest Bookstore a few years ago and was stunned at the amount of people that came. Do you ever get stage fright?
SLK: Honestly, yes. It’s very humbling and thrilling and yes, very scary.
Spaz: This year you saw the release of an Acheron and a Simi doll. Do you foresee any more dolls being released of characters from the Dark-Hunter series? {Maybe Artemis so we can voodoo her ass?}
**WLP wants one of those ASAP**
SLK: There should be 4 more to come, but I can’t remember which ones they are. The fans voted on them and the doll company has the list
WLP: Finally, what was the last CD or Song you bought?
SLK: Skillet: Monster

Thanks! Also, great interview!
Congrats!
Great interview. I hate to admit but I’ve not read any of Ms. Kenyon’s books yet. They are on my TBR list. This interview just makes me want to jump in now. Thanks for sharing!
*hiss* you MUST! They’re like book crack!
I know. That’s why I’m afraid to start. Too many things to do so can’t get hooked on new series, especially one with so many books. I am a book addict and will literally read book after book until they are all done. (I’ve gone a few days w/o sleeping because of this) I’ll order them at 2 AM on my ITouch if I finish and must start the next one. It’s a serious problem. I’m trying to find a support group. lol.
Great Interview WLP! I love all the Dark Hunter Series. I was my first adult paranormal read to!
Thanks Carol, I’m so happy I found SLK…even if it started an insane book addiction!
O.M.G SQUEEEE!!!!! I love this interview, Sherilyn Kenyon, and the Dark Hunters. I have No Mercy waiting for me and cannot wait to inhale it. lol This is one of the few series that stays on my pre order list.
Me too! The ONLY series I will buy in Hardcover! Damnit, I still haven’t recieved my copy of No Mercy, it’s killing me!!
I can’t believe you interviewed Sherrilyn Kenyon! I love her books, especially because she seems so cool. It makes me want to buy her stuff even more.
I squee’d too! LOL! SLK & Dianna Love are the nicest authors I have met in person, so down to earth, if you get the chance to meet them do it!
Awesome, Nat! And thank you so much to Sherry for coming to talk to us! Her books were some of my first paranormal reads as well. I have copies of Sherry’s books so old they don’t say “bestselling author” on the cover, if you can believe that! She’s always so much fun at DragonCon, as well– one of my must-see events there. In fact, I was so excited for her the first year they moved her panels out of the little room and into one of the big conference halls! (And proud to say I was there when it wasn’t standing room only in the little room.) Sieze the Night is still one of my top favorite books and I’m looking forward to Christmas and being able to introduce my nieces to Kenyon’s world with the Chronicles of Nick book. Thank you for that, Sherry!
