Jillian Conrad never believed in vampires-until she was unwillingly injected with a serum that was supposed to act as a deadly poison to them. Now, tormented half-vampire Declan Reese wants her blood to destroy the undead kingdom. Unfortunately, the serum has also made her blood irresistible to all vampires-including Declan, whose desire for Jillian is more than mere hunger.

Jillian Conrad was minding her own business coming back to work after a break to pick up coffee when she ends up being taken hostage. She ends up being injected with a serum that was made to act as a deadly poison to vampires, thus making her blood irresistible to all vampires.

This is a problem, since the person or half person who saved her happens to be half vampire & it’s taking all his will power not to drain her. There are also many people who want this serum & not all of them know Jillian is in fact the only source of the serum, but when they find out her life is at risk. Declan has to either protect her or kill her & Jillian doesn’t know which way he’s going.

Let me just warn you now, this is a darker Michelle Rowen then you are used to….and it rocked my socks off!

Jillian kicks all sorts of booty, even in the grips of terror. Lets face it, she is unwillingly the only source of a serum meant to destroy the vampire race & this serum has yet to be tested, yet it’s inside of her. The side effects are unknown, yet Jillian doesn’t break down & lose it, she keeps fighting. Jillian is a character that grows constantly through the story, gaining more strength & more snark as she goes.

Declan is an extremely interesting character, though I can’t give you all the details because I would spoil it for you but I can tell you he reminds me a lot of Stacia Kane’s Downside character Terrible. Uh Huh. He’s just that kind of man, a hard life & you just want to hug him. He’s complicated & has so much depth, he will be the character you fall in love with.

The world building is phenomenal, Michelle Rowen really has a knack for writing a world that you could see yourself a part of even if it doesn’t exist. As for the action, there is plenty of it & it makes for one hell of a ride. I’m still on a high after reading Nightshade, it leaves you satisfied & wanting more at the same time!

But like I said, don’t go expecting Michelle Rowen PNR…because this Michelle Rowen 2.0 is all about the nitty, gritty, snark filled ride. That said, I think I love Michelle Rowen 2.0 a little bit better, she’s awesome.

Ok, I’ll give it a shot. Your rec and my experience with Michelle’s prior works is enough for me to read at least the first of a new series. Even if it does pitch the romance right up front.

You had me at “he reminds me a lot of Stacia Kane’s Downside character Terrible.”
This has been on the TBR since it was announced on Goodreads and now I can’t wait…even more
