Pam’s Top Five
One word to sum up this book: Charming. Another word? Crack. I didn’t know exactly how much Spellcast would affect me when I first started it, but was quickly enchanted. Could not put it down. Upon finishing at 2 AM the next morning, I was verklempt for at least a day after. Reviewed by WLP.

Everything about Spectyr was new and refreshing, with vivid action and suspense. The events and settings are so richly described I completely lost myself. The heroine is so rough around the edges, and can be so arrogant, and yet I still was enamored with her. The extensive character developments and relationship bonds built are nothing short of genius. Aftermath is about wandering the road less traveled; doing things to help others outside of yourself; and most importantly… embracing the many shapes love can be given and accepted in. This book was an intense ride from start to finish and reminded me once again why Sirantha Jax is my most favorite heroine of all time. Reviewed by WLP.

Oh how I adored this book! It is an entertaining and gripping steamy ride, with really awesome characters. The hero Dragos has certainly made other 2011 lists, hee! Thea Harrison and her Elder Races series is one of the best things to happen to the PNR genre this year. Reviewed by WLP.

My most favorite aspect of Black Heart Loa are the relationships among the women characters. They are so strong and confident, and have such a sense of right and wrong, and you can empathize with their different perspectives which are often polarized. Add to that the hugely imaginative and dark Cajun world of hoodoos and the dialects involved… Adrian Phoenix has created a true GEM. Reviewed by WLP.

Have you read any of these? Do you have any similar ones?
Ahh! Both you lovely ladies have Spellcast in your lists! I bought it back in the summer based on Pixie’s review and still haven’t read it!
Hi Heidi – I put off reading it for a while, and bought it on Nat’s recommendation. It’s very unique, not like anything I’ve ever read before. Start it sooner than later!
Apparently I need to get Spellcast.
Like last year, you MUST read it! Hell, I will re-read it with you!
I’ll totally re-read it with you too!
LOVED Black Heart Loa! Man, Adrian knows her stuff about world builing and writing angst. I unfortunately haven’t read the others on this list, but I’ll be putting them on my TBR list for certain.
Best wishes for a happy & healthy new year filled with lots of great reads!
Smiles!
Lori
Happy New Year Lori, can’t wait to read YOUR book! So happy for you!
Hi Lori,
Yay for Adrian Phoenix love!! Oh her other series is so so good, too. I hope if you pick up any of my other 4 favorites you let me know how you like them!
Best to you! P
So happy to hear you enjoyed SPECTYR. I’m currently reading it myself and enjoying it more than GEIST…and I really enjoyed GEIST.
Yes, I’m her husband and writing partner. Doesn’t mean I can’t be her fan as well! *LOL*
Hi Tee! ACTUALLY…. GEIST was one of my favorites of 2011 because I didn’t read it until this year or it would have been on my top 5 for 2010!! Then I bought SPECTYR immediately and I was enthralled. I love Sorcha so so much. All the characters! I cannot freaking WAIT for WRAYTH! I just recently purchased PHOENIX RISING and that is where I recognize your name from
Thank you, and your WIFE for giving us such awesome BOOKS!!
Now I REALLY have to read Spellcast. It made both of your lists! I have it in my book closet. I got it after Jess told me to buy it. lol Now I just have to read it…
Hi Julie – Seriously, it’s so good!!!!! I hope you can pick it up sooner rather than later
Great list, Pam!!
Thanks Kristin!!
I read Dragon Bound. LOVED IT!! I want to read the rest, but, you know, so many books, so little time, what with having to sleep and work for a living.
Hi Nicole! Wasn’t it soooo good?! Thanks for stopping by!
Crap. How have I not ready any of these? I read like almost 200 books this year. WAAAAA…. I did read the second book in Thea’s series because I had won it, and I loved it– but I need to get the rest of them.
Dammit- you did this on purpose to make me add MORE books to my list! I just know it:)
BRENDA HYDE how is this possible?!?! We read all the same books!!!!
I know! WTF!! It’s like there was a rift in time or something. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Not only that– the first two books I hadn’t even known about, and I’m ashamed because of it! O_O
