WLP Wants To Know: What Makes You Read A Blog?

We’ve slowed down a bit on WLP since the events of the summer, but we’re finally getting back into the swing of things.

  • What we want to know is what makes you read our blog, what do you like about it?
  • What do you hate about it?
  • Anything you’d like to see more of, or less of?
  • What about something totally different?
  • How do you feel about reviews of older books?
  • Author interviews: love them or hate them?
  • Author guest posts: love them or hate them?
  • Male models, should we have an all Gandy Friday?

  • Do you want more personal stories from the girls here?
  • Do you want more rants?
  • Would you like to see fellow bloggers guest post over here?
  • What do YOU want?

Tell us what keeps you reading, and we’ll do our best to keep you here!

    GANDY! That would be awesome.
Older book reviews would be great as well as newer books. Makes me want to read those ones I have forgotten about.

OK, I’ll tell you. Only because I’m usually so laconic and otherwise reluctant to share my opinions in public though.

I respect that you’ve used the phrase “shank a bitch” in a review.

Most of the books you cover have more in the way of romance than I care for.

See above but it’s your blog and I’m not your target audience, so do what ya gotta do.

What, you’re joining the cast of Monty Python now?

Shrug. If I haven’t read them, they’re new to me.

More Dakota Cassidy, Kevin Hearne, Bree, and Anton Strout. Sure other folks may sell a few more books but those guys’ interviews are entertaining in their own right.

    Yeah, see above.

Only if you can get them to dress up Gangnam style.

If they’re worth reading, sure. I don’t really care about what you ate for dinner unless you have an amusing, inspiring, or thought provoking anecdote that goes along with it though.

Yes, please. The more stabby the better.

    Only if they don’t suck.

The same thing I want every night, Pinky, to try and take over the world.

Dude, the reason I started reading your shat is because you had a keen eye for both bullshit and excellence and almost as little tact about calling it out as me. If I want all 3-5 star reviews where the reviewer makes excuses for mediocre books, I can get that anywhere. I want to see your sharp mind and sharper wit put to good use separating the superb from the suck.

For me It’s reviews that keep me reading a blog. I love a little bit of sillyness thrown in, and Gandy could be on any day……..I think you guys do a wonderful job..

I really enjoy reading WLP’s reviews. It’s what keeps me coming back to your blog. They are, across the board, well-written and thoughtful and pull no punches. Love that. I also have realized that I prefer to read reviews of older books because there is so much out there I’ve not yet read. I’ve come to realize that every book review blog I read will cover the same book over the course of a few days when a release date is approaching but it’s the ones that aren’t covering that book that I will stop and check out. Does that make sense? You blog is golden. keep doing what you’re doing. And what’s up with all this Gandy love? Never heard of the dude until I started blogging. (did I just lose all credibility with that statement?)

For me, it’s the reviews. I love the snark and fun that you all bring too. Missed the Fear Factory pictures and hope you bring back the twisted Christmas posts.

I’d like to see reviews of older books, yes. I come back because sometimes you’d review a book I didn’t know about and it becomes a great surprise (like Keith Melton and Barbara Ashford). I don’t mind the rants or personal related posts but those aren’t the reasons I return. I’d like to see more questions for us, I mean, perhaps something you’d come across or think about and you could ask out opinion, it can be about a book (whether you reviewed it already or not), about libraries or bookshops or stuff related to the book world. I don’t know, but I like to see what you think and what others think too.

I enjoy your reviews. We read some similar books, and I like WLP’s take. The extra stuff can be fun as long as it doesn’t overrun the blog.
