The year 2013 marks a return to writing for me. For the last two years I’ve been busy launching and managing the Heroes and Heartbreakers website. I left that job in September to write. I’ve got both a contemporary and a non-vampire/werewolf paranormal in the works. So…here I come!
There were tons of wonderful books out in 2012, but I have to say that my favorite historical read was an oldie, Connie Brockway’s As You Desire, which I reread with my bookclub and totally fell in love with all over again. For my favorite contemporary it was an ARC of Megan Caldwell’s upcoming clever women’s fiction novel, Vanity Fare, and for paranormal it was J.R. Ward’s Lover Reborn. (I’m obsessed with BDB.)
PIE. Pie with fresh whipped cream.
Um…I don’t know that I have one. I’m sure there were some 80’s synthesizer versions of holiday songs that were probably quite unpleasant.
PIE! I always make homemade pie. And I always go to Detroit for Christmas. Which always makes me feel sort of badass.
Well, I always go to the annual “White Diana” party here in Brooklyn. It’s like a white elephant, except that it’s named after somebody’s horrible ex-girlfriend. We wrap all the hideous things lying around the house and throw them into the goodie pile (which consists of everybody elses’s hideous, wrapped things). It still amazes me how many unwanted/bizarrely entertaining/hilariously unusable/fantastically bad things a person can accumulate over the course of a year. Especially in New York.
I must have put it out of my memory. I’d feel so bad.
Making pies with my mom who died during the holidays last year.
I feel like everybody already knows the lesser known factoids about me! The Antarctica thing, the Bob Dylan thing, the Popsicle thing, the Fabio thing… What’s left? I mean, I’m down to, “She was born with an extra toe,” which is totally a lie. I only have ten.
I don’t collect much anymore (though I still own a huge collection of gaudy cocktail rings), but every time I go to a foreign country I try to bring back a really awesome keepsake. I have the most beautiful carved wooden Buddha from Cambodia.
