31 Wicked Days of Christmas With Lauren Dane

  • What is next for you book wise in 2013?

Such a busy year for me! I’ve got the trade paper release of Beneath the Skin in January, the mass market release of GOING UNDER (Bound by Magick book 3) in February, the digital release of LOST IN YOU (Petal book 2) in March, Delicious book 3, LUSH in trade paper in April, the mass market release of LAID BARE in June (including a lower digital book price), UNCONDITIONAL the next Cascadia Wolves book is out in digital in August, LOST IN YOU in trade paper in September, DRAWN TO YOU the last Brown Siblings book is out in October and the last Bound By Magick book is out in November (still working on a title).  And in December I’ve got  THREE – THERE ALL ALONG, a futuristic duology with Megan Hart in trade paper, GODDESS WITH A BLADE is out in trade paper and the next chapter of Rowan’s story – BLADE TO THE KEEP will be out in digital formats.

  •  Do you have a favorite book of 2012?

OMG so hard to say!  It didn’t come out in 2012, but my favorite book I read, one I thought about for the longest after I’d finished was The Passage.  I also loved the lush imagery and gorgeous writing in The Night Circus.

  •  What is your favorite holiday food?

Cookies. I don’t tend to eat them at any other time of year, but man do I love cookies.

  •  Least favorite holiday song?

Baby It’s Cold Outside

  • Do you have any holiday family traditions?

We don’t go shopping the day after, we make cookies and hang out at home together watching movies and reading books.

  • Worst gift you ever received?

Hmm, most of them have been pretty awesome. My husband is a smart guy and he knows me really well so he’d never give me a vacuum cleaner or something like that

  • Worst gift you ever gave?

I think I gave my dad Hai Karate once

  • Favorite holiday memory?

I have many. Last year I think was a big one because we went to Maui and it was freezing and gray here and so warm and gorgeous there. We spent a lot of time together, none of us worked and we came back home relaxed and full of great memories of board games and playing in the ocean.

  • If you could share one lesser known fact about yourself to our readers, what will it be?

I absolutely love The Waltons and will stop to watch an episode any time it’s on.

  • Weirdest thing you collect?

Nothing weird really! I love teapots, little boxes and postcards.

Giveaway: I’ll give away a set of Brown Siblings books including the first two Delicious books (Cherished and Tart). Format is winner’s choice INTERNATIONAL!

To enter, just tell Lauren what your least favourite part of the holidays is!

Ha! I think I gave my Dad Hai Karate one year too, to my knowledge he never wore it, being an Old Spice kind of guy 😉 My least favorite part of the holidays would be the crowds of people. I have become a huge fan of online shopping and found that it makes a much happier holiday season for me!

  • sandyg265 December 21, 2012 at 9:49 am

My least favorite part is travelling.

  • Lori H December 21, 2012 at 10:00 am

Least fave thing about Christmas is the crowds.
    Merry Christmas,

  • JackieBCentralTexas December 21, 2012 at 10:43 am

Least favorite part of holidays is increased rudeness of drivers, everyone is already in a hurry but add the stress of them trying to get out there and shop to the mix and hate to go anywhere from November 1st till after New Years.

It is nice to get away glad you and your family enjoyed your Maui vacation as it sounds really lovely right about now as our part of Texas is in the mid 30’s even with warm sunshine beaming down.

  • Readsalot81 December 21, 2012 at 10:54 am

My least favorite part of the holidays is battling the drivers and the crowds. Our freeway gets really congested at a certain part because traffic is backed up for a mile while everyone waits to get off at the street where the mall is. I really don’t go out on New Years Eve anymore because I really don’t fancy driving with lots of other people that particular night.

  • Leza December 21, 2012 at 11:18 am

Fighting all the crowds and crazy drivers rushing for parking spots.

  • Heather December 21, 2012 at 11:25 am

    the family pettiness…

  • Stephanie G December 21, 2012 at 11:27 am

My least favorite part of the holidays is having to wait in line at the post office when mailing out gifts!

Wishing you and your family the best Christmas and New Year’s!

  • Rebe December 21, 2012 at 12:04 pm

I hate all the travelling, mainly because we’re expected to visit everyone else. I love seeing family, but it’s an exhausting time of year.

  • Lauren December 21, 2012 at 12:14 pm

My least favorite part of the holidays: the traveling! So stressful!

  • Lorrie December 21, 2012 at 12:41 pm

My least favorite part of the holiday is rude shoppers.

  • Mariann McLaughlin December 21, 2012 at 1:58 pm

My least favorite part of the holidays is definitely the crowds and the increased traffic. It seems the closer we get to the holidays, the less holiday cheer people have. Just makes me want to stay inside and cozy up with a Lauren Dane book!! *winkwink* haha In all seriousness, I am a HUGE fan of Lauren and I am so excited about her schedule of new releases!! Cannot wait! Thanks for the chance to win. Happy Holidays!! 🙂

  • Alex December 21, 2012 at 2:36 pm

My least favorite part is cooking. I love to bake and don’t mind that. It’s the hours in the kitchen that gets to me

  • Shannon Burdsall December 21, 2012 at 3:47 pm

The hard part about Christmas is trying to spend time with both sides of the family w/o someone feeling like they didn’t get enough time with us plus fitting in time just for my onw family! I wish both side could get together and have one big celebration…lol…if it was that easy!

  • Corinne December 21, 2012 at 4:32 pm

Working in the customer service/food industry, I would have to say that my least favorite part of the Christmas season is……the closer it gets to Christmas the grouchier people get!!!! 🙁 Ohhhh yeah…also stores playing Christmas music tooo early.

  • Viki S. December 21, 2012 at 4:44 pm

My least favorite part of the holiday wrapping the gifts. I don’t know why I don’t do the bag thing. I guess I feel they need to be wrapped but as I get older it gets harder to do. Thank you. I love the Brown’s and would really love to win :). Merry Christmas!

  • erinf1 December 21, 2012 at 5:16 pm

Thanks for the fun post and congrats to Lauren on all her success!! Ummm… my least fav part of the holiday is trying to up come w/ gift ideas. Once I figure it out, I enjoy it but I hate having to come up w/ ideas.

    Merry Christmas!

  • Timitra December 21, 2012 at 7:21 pm

My least favorite part of the holiday is shopping!

  • Stephanie December 21, 2012 at 7:23 pm

My least favorite part of the holiday is the cold weather.

  • Nicole December 21, 2012 at 7:43 pm

Least favorite–the crowds in the shopping area near where I live and have to go to grocery store. I live right off an interstate and the shopping center/area is a hot spot for all the smaller towns for up to 200 miles southeast of my town. The area was horribly designed for normal traffic it sees throughout the year. Add in out of towners who don’t drive it regularly (lane changes, bad light timing) and it’s just awful. Long lines at lights and fender benders. I’d avoid it all together except my grocery store is there…and so is Barnes & Noble. *sigh*

  • Lynda the Guppy December 21, 2012 at 8:03 pm

My least favorite part is the traffic and insane drivers. Also, the insane crowds at the stores.

I had to laugh at Lauren’s least favorite holiday song “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” because my friends and I call it The Date Rape Song. LOLOL. Usually I find the song creepy and disturbing, but I really love the Glee version with Chris Colfer and Darren Criss

  • Rebecca C December 21, 2012 at 8:26 pm

The crowds…I really hate shopping in a crowd. Also, how this year they started putting Christmas decorations the day after Halloween. I like doing one holiday at a time.

  • Kyna December 21, 2012 at 9:40 pm

I dislike the obligations, particularly to hang out with my in-laws. Coming in a close second is the crowds. I work near a mall and getting around this time of year is brutal.

  • bn100 December 21, 2012 at 10:17 pm

Least favorite part is removing the decorations from the tree

  • Ruth Ayres December 21, 2012 at 10:52 pm

I hate the way the Christmas has been turned into one big commercial venture.

  • Jenn December 22, 2012 at 12:46 am

So many great things coming up – my calendar is full just from jotting down all the release months 🙂
I dislike the whole “shopping in December” thing. I try my best to do everything early, but sometimes it’s just not possible. Facing the December shopping crowds – ugh. Stick a pencil in my eye instead.

  • Brianne December 22, 2012 at 12:34 pm

Cleaning up all the decorations at the end of the holiday – It’s so sad to see it all go back in the boxes.

  • Texas Book Lover December 22, 2012 at 1:18 pm

My least favorite part is the shopping. I hate the crowds but never really trust what I see online either. I need a genie to wish upon or elves to make all my gifts for me.

  • Brenda H December 22, 2012 at 9:43 pm

The rushing around to stores and just in general. I always wish I could just slow it down.

  • Denise Z December 25, 2012 at 4:30 am

I think the least favorite part of the holiday is that moment when you have hyped yourself up and worked so hard to try to get everything together and be so special and then it just does not live up to the emotional expectations. So I am learning to just enjoy for the sake of enjoying the season and smile when everyone is grumpy and give without expectations and just do the best I can, if it is not perfect so what LOL

  • JenM December 25, 2012 at 1:53 pm

My least favorite part of the holidays is the music. They are okay the first couple of times, but after that, I start to go a bit crazy every time I hear them.

  • Laurie January 3, 2013 at 3:15 pm

Hmm, well, that would be missing out on all the family gatherings. We don’t live near our family so we miss them. It also makes gift giving a pain.
