Oh the Beauty and the Beast tale, I love it. Probably why the series with the burlesque dancer, Jolie, and Hauk, the scarred and former soldier both working for the Underlight against the shadowy Order of Ananke. Now Jolie is a part of the crew fighting against an organization that her father holds a position of power in. While the enemy looks for a way to demobilize Hauk, Jolie must also deal with the reappearance of Hauk’s high school flame, Ashley. Jealousy and sexual tension mount as the two individuals search for ways to thwart their enemies and figure out their hearts.
The last little bit was added by me, this series is so good because instead of an instant “I love you” it gives the reader the fun and frustration of two individuals of falling in love. In addition, this installment deals with Hauk’s shadowy and painful past regarding his time in the Army Rangers and his mysterious “blackouts” every time he is provoked into battle mode. For Jolie fans, this installment is equally enjoyable, the title says it all, “Beauty Saves the Beast” I won’t tell you how so as not to spoil the read. Needless to say all the elements that were enjoyable in the first novella are there, kick-ass heroine, a sweet but wounded hero, and whole lot of action.
