Daybreakers Store

January 12, 2010 in Movies

Last week I mentioned I was nearly scared out of my mind when I saw that they’d redone a store downtown (Toronto) that had vampires working behind the counter. I finally thought to bring my camera out with me and get some pictures, of course there were no vampires when I visited.

This used to be a convince store, but they’ve totally painted & wrapped it for the movie. Check out the blood bags in the fridge!

Release Update & Vampires

January 6, 2010 in Book News, Movies

Regarding my previous post today, I finally have my hands on a copy of Molly Harper’s latest book. It took a bit of a mission, 30 minute walk but I got it! Another location, World’s Biggest Bookstore, got Molly and Jenna’s books in this morning and already had them shelved. Whoo Hoo! Mind you I already have Jenna’s book, but it was nice to see only ONE copy left on the shelf after it was only put out this morning! I spoke with Adrian Phoinex today and her Editor told us both the reason it’s not in Canada yet is due to storms (US) and the holiday’s, but it’s on it’s way and should be in Canada soon. Marta Acosta left a great comment about Book Release Dates on the previous post:

Hi, Natasha, ha, I learned with my first novel that release dates are just a suggestion. Seriously. Sometimes books are out weeks before the official release and sometimes they get stuck in a warehouse. Sometimes delivery gets delayed by bad weather. Sometimes they are misshelved. I’ve showed up to an arranged signing and been told by a clerk that he couldn’t find my books. I found them in fiction. He hadn’t bothered to use his computer to try to locate them. He said, “Oh, I thought they were romance because the cover had red in it.” I said, “Well, that tells me more about you than the books.”

In short, just try to be patient about these things.

As I was out trying to locate books, I damn near had a heart attack…I saw not one but two Vampire’s. Yep, Vampire’s in Toronto. A store downtown was changed this summer into a live action advertisment for movies. In the summer it was Harry Potter, they changed the whole store into a Wizard’s Studio and had one of the actors from the last movie (Tom Felton) come in for a signing. It was pretty cool to see, but I figured it was a one off. Last month it was Sherlock Holmes, but I don’t know if anyone showed up for it since I was hiding from the cold.

So here I am walking past when I see the store’s been changed into an old skool Mom & Pop Soda Shop. There’s a man and a woman both in the red and white stripped uniforms…then it happens….the man smiles at me. FANGS. I SAW FANGS. I kid you not I must have dead stopped in the middle of the street, my head said “You’ve got to stop reading so many vampire novels, you’re imagining fangs on people”. I looked back up at him and now he’s in full grin…yep FANGS! Then I clued in, it’s for Daybreakers. I’m not loosing my mind people, but I went back after the bookstore to get pictures. They were gone. So maybe I have finally lost my mind, but the storefront is still a Soda Shop..so who knows!

My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult

June 11, 2009 in Movies, Reviews

The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate–a life and a role that she has never challenged…until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister. So, Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable–a decision that will tear her family apart and possibly have fatal consequences for the sister she loves. Read the rest of this entry →

Cineplex’s Little Ashes Canadian Release Date

April 28, 2009 in Celebrities, Movies, Rob Pattinson

Last week I posted this  regarding Little Ashes opening in Canada, so I have done some “investigative work” and found yet another date posted, this time May 15th in Canada according to Cineplex’sWebsite. Now I have heard that it will have a limited release, but Cineplex is huge in Canada, so I am assuming that the more hype there is, the bigger the release.

It is listed in their coming soon calander as May 15th, so I am going to accept May 15th as the official Canadian Release Date. For other dates, check out Robsessed!
