Glory St. Clair loves soaking up Hollywood’s vampire nightlife with her sexy Scottish lover, Jeremiah. Especially when she meets a vampire/ diet guru who promises to give her the body she’s wanted for centuries. One problem: his clan and Jeremiah’s are ancient enemies. But Glory’s not about to let a stupid family feud come between her and slender bliss. Yet, she can’t help but wonder…how much is she willing to risk for her hips? And how much (and precisely what) is she willing to lose?
In book 5 of the Glory St. Clair series, we find Glory in LA with Ray for the Grammy Awards. They’re still fodder for tabloid magazines, with their ”engagement”, even though Glory really is only a friend teaching the newly undead Ray the ropes. Paparazzi are constantly chasing Glory now, asking if she’s pregnant with Ray’s baby. When Jerry turned Glory, 400 years ago, her body was what people of the time loved but now she finds herself depressed over her weight. When Glory’s best-friend Flo meets Ian MacDonald at a vampire bar, he tells Glory he can help her loose the weight with his treatment plan, of course Glory doesn’t refuse. Then it turns out that Jerry and Ian’s families have been feuding for years, will this cause Glory to loose Jerry forever if she chooses weight loss? Never-mind that she’s been having weird reactions to Ian’s “medicine” that cause her to nearly walk out into the sun. What’s a girl to do?
I so love Glory, she’s not your stereotypical vampire for one and she tries so hard to be independent from the men in her life. Gerry Bartlett’s take on vampires is not only hilarious but has shown a growth in Glory since book 1 of the series. Glory has her choice of men from Ray, Jerry and even her shape-shifter bodyguard Valdez, the later of which you’ll fall in love with. From clothing drama (her dress for the Grammy Awards is being made by reality show contestants) to the old Campbell/MacDonald war, Glory is in for a handful in this wonderfully written book. Let me tell you, the love scenes are HOT so get a damp towel! You know those books you hate to see end, Real Vampires Hate Their Thighs is definitely in that category! My only issue was that we never did find out why Glory was having bad reactions to Ian’s treatment plan.
Gerry Bartlett’s dialogue is wickedly witty, the cast of characters just keeps getting better and more entertaining.
If you love a giggle with your Paranormals check out the Glory St. Clair series, you won’t be disappointed. Trust me when I say, you WILL get hooked. I can’t wait to read Gerry Bartlett’s 6th book in the series, December is a long time away!
