How to Use Essential Oils

Topical Use:

It is recommended when using essential oils on the skin to dilute with a carrier oil. Some types of suitable oils include coconut oil, grapeseed oil, rosehip oil, jojoba oil and sweet almond oil.

Diluting the oil will help it cover a wider area of skin as well as decrease skin sensitivities.

As a general rule when diluting for use on babies or those with sensitive skin the ratio is 1 drop of essential oil to 3 drops of carrier oil otherwise a 1:1 ration for others is fine.

Internal Use:

Not all essential oils are created equally so please do your research on the brand (make sure it is 100% Essential Oil and there are no fillers or other things added) before ingesting.

Internal use of Essential Oils is safe as long as you make sure you use a reputed brand. You can take a drop or two in water or buy empty vegetable caps from a local health shop and make your own pills.

Internal use of essential oils is very nourishing for the throat and mouth as well as the digestive tract.

Aromatic Use:

Essential Oils can be inhaled directly from the bottle or by using a diffuser.

When using a diffuser for Essential oils it is important to use a non-heat version. When pure essential oils are heated they loose some of their Therapeutic benefits.

Ultrasonic diffusers do not heat oils and use vibration to expel the essential oil particles into the air, therefore it is recommended to use this type.

When you use an Ultrasonic diffuser the essential oil particles will be suspended in the air for up to 2 hours. Your skin will slowly absorb the oils so not only will your room smell good but you will be getting health benefits as well.

What is doTERRA?

doTERRA is an Essential Oil company that was founded in 2008. doTERRA Essential Oils are certified pure therapeutic grade. The company is very particular about co impact sourcing and making sure the Essential Oils they offer are the purest most potent oils on the market.

Third Party Testing:

To make sure the oils are 100% pure, doTERRA have them tested by a third party. The company will do all it’s own checks onsite and then in the lab.

The third party will then be used to double and triple check that the oils have not been contaminated at any part of the process.

If there are any contaminants found the oil will not make it to market.

Co Impact Sourcing:

2/3rd of doTERRA Essential Oils come from developing countries. There are a couple of reasons for this one being that they choose countries where the plant or tree has been grown for thousands of years.

This means that the plant will be more potent and the farmers that distill the oils have expert knowledge about how to harvest the plant and get the best quality oil.

Many times these farmers are families who have passed this knowledge down through generations.

To give you an idea of some of the countries they source their oils from the Frankincense comes from Oman and Somalia, Wintergreen comes from Nepal, Vetiver comes from Haiti, Cardamom comes from Guatemala, Ylang Ylang from Madagascar and Lavender from Bulgaria.

Another thing doTERRA does is that it invests in projects to help local communities where they get the oils from. A recent project in Haiti saw clean drinking water installed to a village and a school for underprivileged kids.

Healing Hands Foundation:

doTERRA likes to invest in projects to help local communities where they get the oils from. A recent project in Haiti saw clean drinking water installed to a village and a school for underprivileged kids.

One charity that doTERRA also supports is Underground Railway where the donated money is used to help rescue children from sex trafficking. Wellness advocates can donate money directly through doTERRA or purchase products where the whole amount is donated to help this organization. (doTERRA Hope oil where 100% of funds go to supporting this organization.)

They also support other worthy organizations including Kiva a mirco lending initiative that is implemented into many of the communities where the oils are sourced. They believe in giving people a hand up not a hand out.

Essential Oils are changing the lives of many people around the world. In the history of time there has never been more potent and pure Essential Oils available on the market.
